Golden Bear Football
The Golden Bears are a K-8 Catholic Youth Football Program comprised of the following Parishes/Schools: St. Michael, St. Gabriel, Mother Teresa, St. Maximilian, St. John West Chester, Bethany, St. John XXIII and Our Lady of Sorrow. Our program plays in the Greater Catholic Youth League (https://www.gcyl.org/), one of the largest and best youth football leagues in Southwest Ohio made up entirely of Cincinnati & Northern Kentucky Catholic Parishes & Schools. The Golden Bear program includes children from our member parishes/schools from kindergarten through 8th grade. The Bandit level will consist of kindergarten, 1st & 2nd graders. The Pony level will include 3rd & 4th graders. Reserve level will be 5th & 6th grade, and the Varsity level will be 7th & 8th grade.
Whether your child is a returning player or brand new to the sport, we are excited to have them join our football family. We are dedicated to providing a safe and supportive environment where your athlete can learn, grow, and have fun. We aim to focus on important values such as teamwork, sportsmanship, and hard work, while also fostering individual skill development and a love for the game.
- Football registration typically takes place in the spring, and your registration fee includes all necessary football equipment – helmet, shoulder pads, pants with padding, practice jersey & game jersey.
- Parents or guardians will be responsible for football cleats and water bottles.
- The season will begin with practices at Mother Teresa Catholic Elementary School (Liberty Township) in mid-late July, with games starting in mid-August.
- There are typically eight regular season games, generally split between Saturday or Sunday, and at least one post season game beginning in mid-late October.
- Home games are played at Bishop Fenwick High School and away games are played throughout the city.
